DAY PROGRAM SERVICES

The Day Habilitation Program is licensed to serve up to 110 individuals with multiple disabilities. We are privileged to be the first MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Experience) for adults Model site in the United States and the World, the focus of the program is on mobility opportunities motivated thru a varied and exciting range of activities reflecting individual choice. The program incorporates an array of interests including cooking, art, music, and recreation. An emphasis on community is fostered by a multitude of opportunities and activities. In addition, daily living skills are cultivated and enhanced using assistive technology. Also offered is a state of the art Snoezelen Room for total sensory stimulation, the Butterfly Salon for personal beauty, nursing services, and whirlpool hydrotherapy. CCR strives to provide a direct care staff to participant ratio of nearly 1 to 3.

The David Lokey Center was established in 1975 by Mrs. Ethel Terrell who at the time was president of the Cecil County ARC. She set aside funds to begin the program, which was dedicated to David Lokey who had worked with children with developmental disabilities since age 15 and succumbed to cancer while a freshman in college. Situated on 8 acres with a pond frequented by native wildlife, the Center combines contemporary services with peaceful surroundings. Since 2000 the center has offered programs providing individuals a creative setting where they can review life and socialization skills and enjoy crafts and horticultural therapy in a caring environment that encourages the optimal development of each person. In addition, individuals are encouraged to participate in community outreach efforts and recreational fun outside the center.
